Failed HDR.

I have owned a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 lens, and finally able to squeeze out an evening for a short sunset shooting. Sounds like I'm busy? Not really, I'm just lazy. After 8 hours of staying in office and staring at the monitor all day long, I'm not feeling to go out for anything.

To be honest, I had wanted to try some shots on landscape photography - paddy field and sunset. (Is too early for me to wake up and take some sunrise photos. zzZZ)

It was late evening and rush (My memory card was full = = so I had to transfer all the photos and it took me few mins, the sun was going to vanish from sight...), end up I didn't bring my tripod.

But yea, I did mark a few spots for my next visit. (It has been cloudy here for several days.)

Took few shots, update when I'm satisfied with them which is most prolly not from this album. =P

Ok, here's one that I tried a HDR experiment on it which apparently FAILED!!!

I stucked in the middle of the tutorial and LOST... ... The river looks bloody and the paddy field like nothing changed from the original one...

When I was searching on how to enhance a sunset photo quickly (It's 2a.m. now, and I have to wake up early in the morning the next day...) then only I ter-realised I can look for HDR video tutorial instead of reading the instructions one by one = = ...

Ha, anyway, this is the shot before HDR mutation. =) good nite.

I had joined this 'Lomokaki' page in facebook and saw their promotion on expired films. Super cheap! I had never tried expired film before and never knew films have expiration dates.

I rushed to 1st Avenue Mall to grab some of these to have a try on only to realise all of them were sold out. And the guys who bought all those freaking cheap films got there just one step before me...

What to do? No choice. Takkan sit there and waiting for them to feel sympathy for me?

At last, I bought two rolls of ISO200 colour and one black and white 35mm films.

Ok, enough for REDSCALE negatives. These are some of the outcomes from the first roll of colour negative film.

Yes, it's birthday celebration again. I don't remember how many times we had this in Uni life.

These are some of the photos from my third roll of lomography redscale xr 50- 200. I have to say, the result doesn't give me the same surprise as the first two did, but the number of the photos came out is more than the previous attempt.Probably I took more cautions when taking photos and for the same time this could be the reason why all these photos don't seem to wow that much.

Another thing about this toy that I got to say is, some of the photos might keep you wondering who's that person in that shot because of the saturation and blurry effect.

This could be the best that explains. I couldn't recognise the one on the left and staring at it for like a minute only before I realise she's my course mate. zling

Cultural event which I had almost forgotten until these photos are unveiled.

Yes, the one that I like the most. For beginners like me, I would suggest start shooting on objects rather than human. Vintage stuffs will do well.

I don't know what those two tiny blue strips doing in most of my photos and where they came from. Hopefully is the film that matters not the camera itself, until the next film then I will find out.

My first attempt- Diana Mini

Bought my Diana Mini Petite Noire at Mooks, Pavilion. It's started when someone introduced lomography to me, and since then I began to fancy about all these plastic toys. After all my research and dilemma, I knew I just had to buy it. and finally, it's mine =)

I brought Diana Mini and two rolls of film (one left) to Genting and Melacca during my first attempt. The Diana Mini is a fully mechanical run camera, means no battery is required except for the flash.

This is the one that I like the most.

This is the only one that got me inside, how sad ><

Oh ya, I brought along my Diana to Nottingham University too. And this one was taken beside the lake.

So far, those are some of the photos that I find ... emm .... not to say interesting but at least 见得光. haha =D By the way, my Diana needs one of those perfectly made leather cases and I so want it. It's not cheap since it's made of leather, but still reasonable, BUT I can't afford to spend anymore on this little lady. I got to save some cash for the film and developing process.

Anyway, I love my Diana Mini ^^

Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, 13th- 16th August, Dara Inn

It was 2nd year architecture studio study trip all the way from USM main camp, penang to terengganu.

We reached destination in the evening. After a long journey, everyone is tired. Waiting to be directed to our room. From left, ah Min, KL, Kar Fai, Xin Yee, Amelia, Yi Zheng, Mei Lin.

We stayed in Dara Inn for 4 days 3 nights. Photos taken after checked out.

3 persons per room. This is my room with Kar Fai and Tat Yeung. Is a very simple constructed unit. Behind the sliding door are the bedroom and rest room. However, the accommodation is much more better than we expected. excited* =)

On the next day, we visited the airport - Lapangan Terbang Sultan Mahmud Kuala Terengganu. The main purpose is to see and do research on how the modern and traditional architecture are integrated in the building. We did observation and investigation on the building construction materials, landscapes, services, terengganu architecture indentity and other elements that help in our design.

During other days, without permission, we are prohibited from entering this area and taking photos. We got our pass tag from the guard.

Then, we went to Pasar Payang. There are three main parts in Pasar Payang- wet area, dry area and batik & souvenirs. Wet area is the place where all those seafoods are sold. Dry area- all those veggies are sold there. In the entrance, we saw these - Telur Penyu. I'm not so sure it is allowed to do so or it's against the law. Anyhow, Amelia said it smells like kentut, and it's hard to cooked compared to chicken egg.

On the other day, we went to Muzium Negeri Terengganu. In the museum, you can see these huge buildings, beautiful landscapes, replica of some of the Terengganu traditional houses.

When we reached there, the authority sent an officer to guide us to every each of the replica in the museum. We had been divided into few groups for the research purpose. My group was doing research on the Rumah Bujang Berserambi. Other than the members of the group who are taking the museum part as their project, others cant make it into the museum. Sigh* It was only 5 bucks per entrance.

This is Ri-Yaz heritage Resort & Spa. It's a resort that built on waterfront. First we went to the reception area. The building is well ventilated. You can feel the breeze coming from the sea. The receptionist brought us to the restaurant and around the resorts. She did inform us who is the architect for the resort, but for that moment, i'm more exciting to know who is the chef for the restaurant. haha =D The resort offers five-star experience in Pulau Duyong. The resort also providing an exciting sailing facilities. Everyone feel like staying there for that night. But for the royal suite, is around 4000 for first night. @__@

This is the vehicle that brings the guests to their suite.

Finally, we went to site visit and start our site analysis. All those places that i mentioned above are going to be in our precedent study. We are divided into few groups again and everyone did their parts. This time we did the site analysis together rather than doing it in each group because of time concern. i'm in the group taking the facilities around that site. We have to walk quite far to find the bus stop and other facilities in order to take photos of those facilities. We nearly get lost on the way back to the site because of shortcut. haha =D and we didn't manage to take a visit into the professor house.

We went to bazzar before heading back to the Inn. Bought the spring potatoes =D

On the last day, we made a visit to masjid terapung. Nice scenery =)

Would like to visit Terengganu again one day. But the time i visit terengganu, i guess i'm going to take flight after considering the 8 hours of travelling time. When that time comes, i'm going to visit Rantau Abang to see the wild turtles =)

Kuching, Sarawak, 22th - 25th May, Tune Hotel Waterfront Kuching.

Trying hard to recall, as it has been a while since the trip. Anyway, love to share few photos taken during the trip. =)

This is somewhere around Tune Hotel. You can take the sampan from one side of the river to the other side, 50 sen per trip. I was expecting the sampan to topple over every time we got out from the sampan but it didn't.

This was the last day of our trip. A visit to the temple. We went to two temples. It was just a walking distance between the two temples. The photo shown was the second temple we visited. The statues and wall carving are amazing.

These are some of the souvenirs sold. The souvenir shop is located on the way to the second temple.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. Orang Utan is the main attraction there. There are quite a number of Orang Utan there with names. The biggest is Big Mama. You can see the workers there feeding the orang utan in Orang Utan's Feeding Area. Go into the forest and walk up a distance to reach there. Make no noise as it might affect the Orang Utan. We reached there on time. Nothing much other than that.

HOHOHO. This was one of my favorite during the trip. Sarawak Laksa. It's a bit different from Kedah Laksa. The taste, the texture and the aroma. It's hard to say, but I think I like this one better. haha. We got to know this kopitiam from The Star newspaper. The locals admit this is one of the best laksa around that area. And there you see, seldom or to say no other place that balut the chopsticks with tissue. Hygiene concerned. thumbs up*.

Next is the Cultural Village. We had wasted a lot of time searching for that must-visit village. Reached destination when the place was about to close. We managed to watch the culture show. The show mainly introduces different types of culture dances from different ethnics in Sarawak. Then we walked around the village to visit the architecture of different ethnics, too bad all of them were closed. And one thing to mention here, we were the last group of people to leave the place. We noticed that when they closed the main gate after we went out. =D

You can see this kind of staircase everywhere. Some of them seem to be too narrow for us. And for this one, its still considerably wide enough.

Photo taken in the car. We were having most of our time exploring Kuching roads in the car. We somehow seem to like the feeling of getting lost during the trip. We went through the map when GPS had run out of battery. Kuching is the city with the largest amount of roundabout I have ever seen. And every roundabout has its name.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

HOHO. Is mother’s day again. I can’t remember when was the last time I prepared a gift or even a simple card for my mum. Wahaha. (what a son = =) This year, heh heh, I’m going to make her a framed watercolor carnation flower.

I have got the A3 watercolor paper cut into smaller piece. Unfortunately, I cut my finger T__T ( the first thing that came into my mind when I saw the blood- hey, I can draw the carnation with my blood, wahahaha) but when the blood is running out like hell and I noticed the cutter is already rust, I started to call my sis. (she is PBSM) I thought probably she is better than me in handling this kind of situation. But errr… she just plastered it = =” haha. After a while, I feel kind of dizzy and my sis told me my lips were pale. Back to my room, my sis said supposedly loosing this small amount of blood won’t make u feel dizzy unless u are blood-phobia (I don’t know what they called that) WAHAHA, she laughed at me (lame) haha. But I’m thinking maybe I don’t have enough sleep (making excuse, hehe =P)

Lastly, I only managed to draw the carnation in the other morning (mother’s day morning) but with no frame. Aiks. Can’t do all those cuttings with one hand.

Lesson learnt : DON’T CUT ANYTHING WITH PLASTIC RULER, DULL CUTTER AND WITH NO CUTTING BOARD!!!

Rot lo my blog =P haha. The very first posting for the year 2010 =D *applause(March 14, 2010 already lo wei) nvm. Anyway, the steamboat nite in IVORY =) what a night =) Skip studio for this. Went to Tesco beside e-gate for the fish balls and everything. Macam uncles and auties from USM =D Mr. Tang, our chef for that nite. Kesian him. 好听is chef, actually is 'abang'. haha. We have fish balls, sotong balls, meat balls, crab meats, veggies, mushrooms, jagung, siu mai, sandwiches, mee, ice cream etc. But tak kenyang. = = whole night busy with photo shooting and being photo shoot. haha. Kesian my Canon EOS 50D. End up with 400+ photos from my camera only not including others. Ohya, our vegetarian Pauline was having her very own personal steamboat for that night =)

Hohoho. Another gathering. Miss Teh Ley Hoong the one behind the scene. From swimming to dim sum = = the plan changed. DOU MU GONG(again = =) 10am. We took photos and sembang more than we ate dim sum. We met with our secondary school Chinese teacher. Went to her house later on since there’s nothing much you can do in alor star ( Kedah Maju 2010 = =) she showed us her photos album.Gosh. She went to so many places. It was like travelling around the world =D

Bought new alpha water colors =) Have been using the old one since standard 5 or 6. Is time to change =D and is getting more and more expensive. Should have buy this in Nan Yang, Penang. Much more cheaper. And some of the colors are not available in this 30 COLORS anymore.

Anyway, Alpha Water Colors still the best. Love Alpha =)

My roommate Japheth Lim Gene- Harn came from PJ. The first time I met him, I was like OMG this guy is taller than me =D His babies, eldest: the lappie, 2^nd: the cammie, 3^rd: the hammie, oh and his youngest: the guitar.

This guy does speak his minds out in class. “Any questions?” and the next thing you see is a guy with a laptop put up his hand.

And he is the roommate you can’t afford to lose (overrating=P) But, you can always expect he bought something back especially foods for his roommate (which is me =D). See, how nice is he.

Or whenever you are changing clothes, make sure his Nikon is far from his reachable distance.

Anyhow, Gene- Harn which I declare him is ‘The Best Roommate’ ever. Applause* =)
